Servings:2

Is there anything better than summer watermelon? Yes, it turns out: watermelon combined with the brightness of grapefruit juice (and vodka, if you choose).

Ingredients

  • 14 oz. seedless watermelon, coarsely chopped (about 3 cups)
  • 3 oz. cold club soda or vodka
  • 2 oz. fresh grapefruit juice (from about 1⁄2 large grapefruit), plus grapefruit wedges, for garnish

Preparation

Purée the watermelon in a blender until very smooth, about 1 minute. Pour through a medium-mesh strainer, discarding any solids, and chill.

Just before serving, stir in the club soda or, if using, vodka. Divide between 2 ice-filled lowball glasses, and top each with 1 oz. of grapefruit juice. Garnish with the grapefruit wedges, and serve.
