What is it?
Mined from the volcanic regions of Pakistan and India, black salt is a rock salt that is purplish/pinkish grey rather than black in color. It tastes mildly sulfurous and mineral, similar to hard boiled egg yolks, and is rich in iron. Use black salt as a condiment, rather than a cooking ingredient as you would use kosher salt.
