A few weeks ago, I decided to use up a box of slightly stale Kashi puffs by turning them into some ersatz Rice Krispies treats. The results? Not bad….though it didn’t do much to disguise the cereal’s staleness, the squares had a nutty, much more interesting flavor than the classic, and I made a mental note that this was worth some experimenting.
But Sara at theSprouted Kitchenblog is way ahead of me–and she’s taken the idea way over the top with thesedecadent-looking brown rice crisp squares, topped with bittersweet chocolate. She also skips the marshmallows in favor of almond butter and brown rice syrup, which sounds fantastic. New inspiration for my experimentation.

good recipe
I made these from Sara's blog too and they were divine! And I didn't feel guilty about eating 'em!
Thanks for featuring Sara. She's just as sweet as her recipes :)
I first saw these in the book The Kind Diet by Alicia Silverstone and when I tried them, was amazed at what booting the marshmallows does for the flavor and texture. Maple syrup would be great to try as well.
