TheBrown Butter Pumpkin Layer Cakefeatured on our November issue cover is a true showstopper of a dessert. One look (and one taste) and I knew I had the centerpiece dessert for my celebration.
When I saw theThanksgiving Cakeposted by Amy Wisniewski at Chow.com, I did a double take. Intrigue turned to revulsion as I realized this wasn’t dessert, but turkey meatloaf layered with cranberry sauce, stuffing, and mashed potatoes. I’m just not a fan of food made to look like other food, especially when it crosses the savory to sweet line.
But, as one of the commenters on the post wrote, this might be a fun offering at the kid’s table.
