What is it?

Hazelnut oil, as the name indicates, is made by pressing the oil from hazelnuts. It has an intense flavor—slightly sweet, roasted, and nutty. Though it’s relatively expensive as oils go, you don’t need to use much for the potent hazelnut flavor to come through.

Hazelnut oil is a popular addition to cookies, cakes, and other baked goods. It also adds rich, nutty flavor to sauces and salad dressings, but it’s usually combined with more mildly-flavored oils so as not to overpower the other flavors in the dish.

How to store:

Like most nut oils, hazelnut oil needs to be stored in a cool place to keep it from going rancid.
