Tomato, Blood Orange, and Mango Sangrita

Sangrita is a traditional concoction of spiced tomato and fruit juices served as a chaser to a shot of straight tequila. Start with the smaller amount of habanero, and add more if you like a hotter drink.

Ingredients

  • 6 oz. tomato juice
  • 6 oz. blood-orange juice
  • 2 oz. lime juice
  • 1 cup fresh mango
  • 1/4 cup loosely packed cilantro leaves
  • 1/4 to 1/2 habanero chile
  • Cilantro sprigs, for garnish
  • Añejo tequila

Preparation

In a blender, combine the tomato juice, orange juice, lime juice, mango, cilantro, and chile. Blend until smooth, strain, and refrigerate for at least 3 hours. Serve in chilled Champagne coupes with cilantro sprigs and shots of añejo tequila.
